Cybersecurity Investments Surge to $6.8 Billion in Q3, Driven by Larger Deals

In the third quarter of 2026, cybersecurity and privacy startups worldwide attracted $6.8 billion in funding, marking a 50% increase from the previous quarter and tying recent records. This growth was largely due to bigger investment rounds rather than an increase in the number of deals. AI-focused cybersecurity companies, especially those specializing in identity security, dominated the funding landscape. Keyfactor led with a $1 billion round, while Island and Cyera each secured $400 million deals with valuations of $6.4 billion and $12 billion respectively. The quarter also saw major acquisitions like Visa's $2.4 billion purchase of BioCatch and Cyera's $1 billion acquisition of Oasis Security. Despite a slow IPO market, cybersecurity remains a hot sector for investment due to rising concerns over AI-driven security risks. The trend signals continued strong support for startups protecting against emerging digital threats.
