Roblox has announced an update to its policies, reinforcing prohibitions on romantic or sexual content to now also include any content, settings, or behavior implying sexual activity. This move comes after lawsuits accusing the platform of allowing an environment conducive to child exploitation. In response, Roblox denied intentional risk to users and introduced several safety features such as age verification tools, parental controls, and restrictions on social hangout areas for children under 13. Soon, unrated experiences will only be accessible to developers and collaborators, requiring a maturity label questionnaire for public release. Additionally, new technology will automatically detect and remove servers with inappropriate user behavior. Access to virtual private spaces and venues like bars will be limited to users 17+ with verified ID, and developers creating for this age group must also verify their age.
