Nvidia’s GeForce Now cloud gaming service is receiving a significant upgrade with the addition of RTX 5080-class Blackwell GPUs featuring 48GB of memory and DLSS 4. For $20 a month, users can stream high-performance PC games on various devices, including phones, Macs, PCs, TVs, and Chromebooks. A key feature, “Install-to-Play,” allows users to install games directly from Valve’s Steam Cloud Play, instantly doubling the available game library. Although install-to-play games require downloading each time, persistent storage is available for an extra fee. The service also introduces streaming enhancements like 5K resolution at 120fps, a new Cinematic Quality Streaming mode, support for Steam Deck OLED at 90Hz, and native LG GeForce Now apps for OLED displays. While RTX 5080 GPUs will gradually roll out alongside RTX 4080-class cards, Nvidia promises no immediate price increase. Additionally, Nvidia is experimenting with integrating GeForce Now into Discord for instant game trials without downloads. Despite these upgrades, some popular titles from Sony and Rockstar remain unavailable on the platform.
