Nvidia Enhances Virtual Harrison Ford's Hair in Indiana Jones Game Using Spherical Modeling

Nvidia is set to launch its RTX Hair technology next month in the game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. This innovation replaces traditional triangle-based hair modeling with spheres, significantly enhancing the realism of Harrison Ford's virtual hair. RTX Hair improves lighting and shadows without compromising game performance or memory usage, making the hair appear fuller and more lifelike. The update will be available in the game's real-time path tracing mode and leverages new hardware features in RTX 50-series GPUs, including ray tracing acceleration for hair and fur and the linear swept sphere (LSS) primitive. Nvidia regards LSS as a major advancement toward real-time rendering of high-quality digital humans.
