Riot Games is gradually introducing a new WASD control scheme to League of Legends, evolving from its traditional point-and-click controls. The developer aims to offer a fresh but familiar playing experience for both newcomers and veteran players by incorporating WASD controls, which are widely recognized as the standard for PC gaming. To maintain competitive fairness, the new control option will initially be tested on the public beta server before being rolled out to standard, ranked, and professional play. Launched almost 16 years ago, League of Legends is known for its complexity, which can be a barrier for new players. Riot believes that adopting WASD controls will make the game more accessible and intuitive, forming part of their long-term strategy to shape the future of League.
