Google has introduced scheduling capabilities in the Google Home app for older Nest thermostats, specifically the US and UK versions of the 3rd gen Nest Learning Thermostat and the Nest Thermostat E. Previously, these models required the dedicated Nest app for scheduling temperature changes. This update allows users to uninstall the Nest app and use Google Home to manage schedules, including temperature, sensor, and fan settings. The rollout started last week and may not be available to all users yet. Existing schedules from the Nest app are transferred automatically. Additional enhancements to the Google Home app include vibrant colors, improved status descriptions, and a refreshed energy dashboard with detailed usage comparisons.
