Google Docs now features an AI-powered audio generation tool using Google Gemini, enabling users to listen to their documents. Users can customize the AI audio output with various voices and playback speeds. This capability is accessible not only to document creators but also to readers of shared documents through the Tools menu. Authors can insert an audio button directly into documents, allowing easy listening access. Originally announced in April as an AI podcast feature, this tool is currently available in English on desktop devices. The audio feature is being rolled out to Workspace users with business, enterprise, or education plans, along with AI Pro and Ultra subscribers.
