Greece to Prohibit Social Media Use for Children Under 15 Starting 2027, Urges EU to Adopt Similar Measures

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis revealed in a TikTok announcement that, effective January 1, 2027, children under 15 years old will be banned from social media platforms. The law's enforcement will require a government-installed application on all devices. A recent poll showed that 80% of the Greek population supports this initiative. Greece is also encouraging the European Union to consider implementing comparable regulations.
