ByteDance and Alibaba Disable Custom AI Features Ahead of New Chinese Regulations

ByteDance’s Doubao and Alibaba’s Qwen, two leading AI consumer applications in China, are discontinuing their personalized AI agent capabilities. This change comes just days before Beijing enforces new regulations on humanlike AI interaction services starting July 15. Doubao informed users on Friday that its agent feature will be deactivated as part of compliance with these new rules.
