The Danish Armed Forces plan to deploy four autonomous sea drones to patrol Northern European waters. These uncrewed surface vehicles are powered by wind and solar energy and equipped with sensors and cameras above and below the water to detect criminal activities. Data collected will be analyzed by a machine learning algorithm to identify patterns and threats including enemy submarines, illegal fishing, drug smuggling, and interference with undersea cables. This technology aims to bolster Denmark’s maritime security in the face of regional tensions.
