Dbrand has admitted to a ‘spectacularly terrible response’ regarding complaints about the Killswitch Joy-Con grips for the Switch 2, which could detach the controllers from the console when held a certain way. After noticing the issue, where Joy-Con controllers might pop off when the grips and case are used and the console is held mainly by a Joy-Con, Dbrand posted a detailed explanation on Reddit. They initially claimed the detachment happened only under specific conditions involving how the console was held. The company explained that the grip design created a small lip that filled the air gap between Joy-Cons and the case, causing leverage issues. Dbrand has adjusted manufacturing tolerances to fix thicker lip problems and is sending replacement grips to affected buyers starting in July. They apologized for their previous communication, likening it to Apple’s infamous response to iPhone antenna issues, and now offer replacements to all users regardless of issue experience. Dbrand is working on two new grip designs, one with a thinner lip and another that promises to fully resolve the detachment problem, with updates expected by July 10th.
