Zoom Introduces Photorealistic AI Avatars for Meetings and Enhanced AI Features

Zoom is set to launch a new feature allowing users to attend meetings as photorealistic AI avatars if they are not camera-ready. Starting in December, Workplace users can create an AI lookalike from a photo, dress it in professional attire, and have it mimic their movements during meetings. This move advances Zoom’s vision of AI clones in meetings, hinted at by CEO Eric Yuan as a step towards ‘digital twin’ AI agents that can perform tasks and make decisions on users’ behalf. To ensure authenticity, Zoom will implement live camera authentication and in-meeting notices to indicate avatar use. Alongside avatars, Zoom will debut real-time AI voice translation supporting multiple languages and an upgraded AI assistant capable of scheduling meetings, creating video clips, and assisting across platforms like Microsoft Teams and Google Meet.
