Starting today, YouTube creators who are part of the Partner Program can use a new AI-powered feature to identify and report unauthorized videos that use their likeness without permission. After confirming their identity, creators can access the Content Detection tab in YouTube Studio to review flagged videos. If a video appears to be an unauthorized AI-generated use of their image, they can request its removal. The initial group of eligible creators was informed via email, with broader access to follow in the coming months. While still in development, the tool may also flag videos featuring the creator’s actual face from their own content. This system operates similarly to YouTube’s Content ID for copyrighted materials. The feature was announced last year and piloted with talent from Creative Artists Agency. It is part of YouTube and Google’s wider efforts to manage AI-generated content, including policies requiring labeling of AI-altered videos and restrictions on AI-generated music mimicking artists’ unique voices.
