Director Yorgos Lanthimos’ upcoming film ‘Bugonia’ explores the harsh realities of economic inequality through the story of Teddy, a beekeeper and pharmaceutical company worker. Teddy, played by Jesse Plemons, perceives himself as expendable like the drones in a beehive under CEO Michelle, portrayed by Emma Stone. Convinced by his delusions and frustrations, Teddy believes Michelle is not human and plans to kidnap her in an attempt to save the planet. The film addresses themes of labor exploitation, mental health crises, and societal pressures, presenting a dark and timely narrative. ‘Bugonia’ is set to release in limited theaters on October 24th, with a wider release on October 31st.
