Wix is reducing its workforce by about 1,000 employees, representing 20% of its staff, marking the largest layoff in the company’s history. The announcement was made by CEO and co-founder Avishai Abrahami on 28 May in a message shared both publicly on X and internally with all employees. The restructuring is attributed to pressures from a strengthening shekel currency and heightened competition in AI impacting the website builder from multiple angles.
