Recently, a coalition of technology companies and universities invested between $17,000 and $25,000 in an advertising campaign aimed at opposing New York’s groundbreaking AI safety legislation, known as the RAISE Act (Responsible AI Safety and Education Act). The campaign, which likely reached over two million people according to Meta’s Ad Library, reflects resistance as the law requires AI developers—including major players like OpenAI, Anthropic, Meta, and Google—to submit safety protocols and transparency measures. The bill was signed into law by New York Governor Kathy Hochul just days ago, marking a significant step in AI regulation.
