Top Publishers Accuse Meta of Unauthorized Use of Their Content to Train Llama AI

Leading publishers Elsevier, Cengage, Hachette, Macmillan, and McGraw Hill, along with author Scott Turow, have filed a class action lawsuit in Manhattan accusing Meta of using millions of their copyrighted works without permission to train its AI model, Llama. This filing follows a previous June 2025 court decision by Judge Chhabria, and the new plaintiffs claim to present stronger evidence of market harm caused by Meta’s actions.
