SoftBank Corp. is repurposing a section of the old Sharp LCD factory in Sakai, Osaka, to establish one of Japan’s largest battery manufacturing lines specifically for AI data centers. This strategic shift aims to support the rapid growth of AI infrastructure with production anticipated by around 2031. The initiative is part of SoftBank’s broader integration strategy, encompassing chip development and modular data center manufacturing, to enhance energy and computing solutions.
