This change follows the impending expiration of the $7,500 federal EV tax credit due to new legislation signed by President Trump, ending the credit on September 30th. Previously, the low price was possible only with the tax credit applied, as noted on Slate Auto’s website, which now lists the pickup’s expected price in the mid-twenties thousand range. The original price came with a disclaimer about changing federal incentives. Trump’s policy shift, favoring oil and gas and rolling back EV incentives, benefits Chinese manufacturers and positions the US at a disadvantage in the EV market compared to China’s advancing clean energy sector.
