Ripple, the San Francisco-based crypto payments company, raised $500 million at a $40 billion valuation, supported by major investors including Fortress Investment Group affiliates, Citadel Securities, Pantera Capital, Galaxy Digital, Brevan Howard, and Marshall Wace. Since its founding in 2012, Ripple has raised nearly $800 million. This funding round follows a recent $1 billion tender offer at the same valuation. CEO Brad Garlinghouse highlighted Ripple’s expansion from payments into custody, stablecoins, prime brokerage, and corporate treasury. The company has also completed six acquisitions in just over two years, including high-value takeovers, enhancing its market presence. The fintech sector overall is thriving, with significant venture funding growth and notable IPO successes in 2025.
