OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT Atlas, a new web browser designed to be a highly AI-integrated gateway to the web. Initially available on macOS desktop, with Windows, iOS, and Android versions on the horizon, Atlas incorporates features that learn from users’ browsing habits to proactively suggest content. CEO Sam Altman emphasized that this is just the beginning, with more innovations to come. The browser includes an AI agent that assists with tasks like filling forms and booking reservations, aiming to reduce tab clutter. This agent mode is exclusive to OpenAI’s Plus and Pro subscribers. While the AI browser space is growing, Atlas could significantly challenge Google’s Chrome dominance.
