In a span of just over two weeks, North Korean hackers pulled off two major attacks within the decentralized finance (DeFi) space. On April 1, approximately $285 million was siphoned from Drift Protocol, a derivatives trading platform on Solana. The attackers spent months impersonating a quantitative trading firm to deceive staff into authorizing fraudulent transactions. Then, on April 18, a different group capitalized on a security flaw in Kelp DAO, highlighting ongoing challenges in securing DeFi platforms.
