New York Governor Kathy Hochul, despite recently imposing a temporary halt on new AI data centers in the state, embraces AI technology to modernize state laws. In a Bloomberg Odd Lots podcast interview, Hochul revealed that her administration is leveraging AI to scrutinize every rule, regulation, and policy to identify outdated legislation. Examples of such laws include a $25 fee for dog hunting and a requirement for pregnant individuals to have a permit to work late hours. Hochul noted that without AI, a thorough review would have taken about five years at the staff level.
