Managing AI systems remains a significant challenge for many enterprises due to the risk of agentic sprawl creating vulnerable entry points. At its Ignite conference, Microsoft introduced Agent 365, an enterprise-grade control plane designed to provide unified observability for AI agents. Agent 365 offers a comprehensive platform to monitor telemetry, dashboards, and alerts for agents across any environment, whether built on Microsoft or third-party platforms such as Adobe, Databricks, Cognition, and ServiceNow.
Agent 365 encompasses five key capabilities: a registry called Entra to log agents, access control through unique agent IDs and policy enforcement, visualization via dashboards to track agent connections and performance, interoperability, and security measures. This unified platform addresses the challenge of fragmented observability tools by integrating agent management into a governed, enterprise-ready system, enabling IT and security teams to oversee agents consistently. Other companies like DataDog, Dynatrace, Splunk, Chronosphere, Raindrop, and Google offer similar observability solutions, but Microsoft’s approach centralizes these capabilities within the familiar Microsoft 365 environment.
According to Microsoft’s president of business apps and agents Charles Lamanna, Agent 365 marks a shift from isolated AI experiments to enterprise readiness, managing agents responsibly at scale using trusted business infrastructure.
