Meta Partners with Nuclear Energy Firms to Power Its AI Data Centers

Picture of Fast Company

Fast Company

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has entered into agreements with three nuclear power companies—TerraPower, Oklo, and Vistra—to supply electricity for its cutting-edge AI data centers. These deals support Meta’s Prometheus AI data center project in New Albany, Ohio, slated to go live this year. The partnerships will provide up to 6.6 gigawatts of clean energy by 2035, bolstering America’s nuclear supply chain and job market for power plant operations. TerraPower’s deal involves funding for Natrium units expected to generate 690 megawatts by 2032, with potential energy rights up to 2.1 gigawatts by 2035. Vistra will supply over 2.1 gigawatts from its nuclear plants in Ohio and Pennsylvania, while Oklo plans a 1.2 gigawatt power campus in Pike County, Ohio, to support the region’s data centers. This initiative builds on Meta’s earlier 20-year energy agreement with Constellation Energy made in June.
