Instacart announced it will immediately stop allowing retailers to use the AI-driven pricing test program developed with Eversight technology. The decision follows a Consumer Reports investigation revealing large price variations for the same grocery items on the platform, which sparked customer backlash. Instacart emphasized that shoppers purchasing the same products from the same stores now see consistent prices, addressing consumer trust issues. This move comes amid increased scrutiny from U.S. lawmakers and regulators including the FTC, which is probing Instacart’s pricing practices. The company also reiterated it never permitted price tests based on personal or demographic data and aims to restore confidence after a recent $60 million settlement over alleged deceptive practices.
