Google is set to release a mandatory software update for certain Pixel 6A phones to reduce the risk of battery overheating. The update will implement battery management features that decrease capacity and charging performance after the battery completes 400 charge cycles. This move follows similar actions taken earlier this year with the Pixel 4A. Reports have surfaced of Pixel 6A devices overheating, including cases of phones catching fire. Google plans to notify affected users next month and provide guidance. Additionally, an extended repair program for battery swelling in the Pixel 7A was announced in April.
