Google I/O 2024 revealed several important updates beyond AI, including new capabilities for Google Wallet, Wear OS smartwatches, the Google Play Store, and Google TV. Smartwatch users can look forward to Live Updates for tracking deliveries and rideshares by 2026. Google Wallet will introduce a Nearby Passes notification for easy access to passes like boarding passes and expand digital ID availability. Google Play is adding an “Ask someone else to pay” feature and tools to improve purchase experiences and app rollouts. Google TV will get Android 16 with Material 3 design changes and support for the new Eclipsa Audio codec developed with Samsung.
