The new Fairphone 6, smaller and more modular than its predecessors, scores a perfect 10/10 on iFixit’s repairability test despite its battery no longer being tool-free to replace. It requires only a T5 Torx screwdriver and seven screws for battery swaps, taking just two minutes for the procedure. The only glued part is the phone’s mainboard, not recommended for DIY repairs, while components like the USB-C port and cameras can be easily replaced. Replacement parts will be sold by Fairphone and iFixit. The phone also features an IP55 rating for water resistance, long-term support promising seven years of Android updates, and a five-year warranty. While not a high-spec device, with a basic dual rear camera and Snapdragon 7S Gen 3 chipset, it boasts a 6.3-inch 10-120Hz LTPO OLED display. Available in Europe for €599 and in the US for $899 with /e/OS, the Fairphone 6 continues Fairphone’s tradition of highly repairable devices, the only brand with a consistent iFixit 10/10 rating since the Fairphone 2.
