Democratic lawmakers are pursuing various strategies to bring back the Federal Trade Commission’s “click-to-cancel” rule after it was blocked by an appeals court on procedural grounds just before its implementation. Earlier this month, Democrats introduced legislation to codify the rule, which mandates subscription services to allow customers to cancel subscriptions as easily as they sign up, through a congressional vote. Additionally, a group of seven Democratic senators, led by Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), have written to Republican FTC Chair Andrew Ferguson urging the reinstatement of the rule.
