CrowdStrike is acquiring two AI security startups, Fiddler AI and Dreadnode, for a combined sum of around $495 million, according to The Wall Street Journal. Fiddler AI provides observability software for monitoring AI agents within enterprises, while Dreadnode automates security testing to detect flaws in AI models and applications before deployment.
The deals come amid rapid adoption of AI tools across industries, with many organisations deploying AI agents and custom applications. This trend has increased pressure on security teams, as traditional policies and controls often lag behind the pace of AI adoption. CrowdStrike aims to integrate these acquisitions into its Falcon platform, with Fiddler AI becoming Falcon Observe and Dreadnode feeding into Falcon Guardian.
The acquisitions reflect a broader industry view that existing security software does not adequately address the risks posed by AI agents and models. For regulated firms, the ability to monitor, test, and enforce policies on AI deployments is becoming a critical operational and compliance issue.
Executives should review whether their current security frameworks and vendor relationships are equipped to manage the risks from rapid AI adoption. The next phase may see further consolidation as established players seek to cover gaps in AI security.
