Amazon Web Services (AWS) has introduced Nova Forge, a new service designed to help enterprises build custom foundation-class AI models without the need for expensive GPUs. Nova Forge lets companies merge their proprietary data with Amazon’s pre-trained Nova models—called ‘Novellas’—without losing the original model’s foundational capabilities. This approach uses ‘open training’ to preserve knowledge while integrating domain-specific information. The new Nova 2 family models include Nova 2 Lite for efficient everyday tasks, Nova 2 Pro for complex problem-solving and coding, Nova 2 Sonic for multilingual speech-to-speech, and Nova 2 Omni that handles multimodal inputs like text, images, and video. Enterprises can create and train custom models using reinforcement learning gyms and deploy them via AWS’s Bedrock platform. Early adopters such as Reddit are already leveraging Nova Forge to enhance moderation with community-specific data. AWS aims to democratize access to tailored AI models without requiring costly GPU setups, opening personalized AI capabilities to a broader range of businesses.
