Apple’s biggest acquisition remains the $3 billion purchase of Beats in 2014. However, its latest major move is acquiring Q.ai, a four-year-old AI audio startup, reportedly for $2 billion according to the Financial Times. The company holds patents for innovative optical sensor tech capable of detecting subtle facial skin movements, enabling silent interaction with AI assistants through non-verbal cues. Founders of Q.ai, including CEO Aviad Maizels—also the founder of PrimeSense, acquired by Apple in 2013—will be joining Apple. This signals a strategic push to develop new AI-powered audio and wearable technologies.
