Sony is developing a sequel to The Social Network, titled The Social Network Part II. Aaron Sorkin, who wrote the original film, is returning to write and direct the follow-up, although David Fincher is not involved. The new movie will be inspired by The Facebook Files, a Wall Street Journal series examining the societal impacts of Facebook. The sequel aims to explore how Facebook influenced events leading to the January 6th, 2021 attempted coup. Sony plans to produce the film with Todd Black, Peter Rice, and Stuart Besser. No timeline or casting details have been announced yet.
